Seasons of Life

To everything there is a season; A season for smiles and one for sadness, a season for sports and one for turning six, and a season to spring forward to the new adventures this year has in store for us.

This year may have not started out on the best note, but I know this little family of mine will make the best of 2016.  As with the dawn of a new season, change is inevitable.  Similarly in life, the same holds true.  One change that was impossible to avoid was my daughter turning another year older.  So 'Now We Are Six', and as the poem states, "I am as clever as clever," which holds true to our spitfire Corynn.  She is so clever in fact, that she sometimes forgets that she is only six.  This can lead to some battles between myself and her, but let's face it, she is my mini me more than I'd like to admit sometimes.  Her amazing strong will and fortitude will take her to places I could have only imagined in my dreams.

To celebrate our clever Corynn this year, we painted toes and canvases and, of course, couldn't forget to paint her lunch plate with mild sauce to dip her favorite food in.

We then moved onward and Upward to the season of sports.  Both Connor and Corynn tried a new sport this year; Connor basketball and Corynn cheerleading.  Connor went from not knowing a  lick about the game of basketball, to being one of the top defensive players on the team.  Through all the focus, though, you could even catch a glimpse of him smiling at his opponent while blocking the ball from coming his way.  Watching his face light up when he made his first basket was priceless.  It was a combination of shock, excitement and accomplishment from his hard work.
Basket, Basket, We Want a Basket Corynn cheered into her megaphone while shaking her pom poms feverishly.  It was fun to see all the girls, not only learn the cheers, but also enjoy themselves.  Corynn had the biggest smile on her face the first time her name was called and she ran out of the tunnel.  She had an even bigger smirk when it was her turn to run the flag around the court barely holding on to the big mast.  Besides cheers, Corynn also learned about the game of basketball.  Not only did they call out D-E-F-E-N-S-E and O-F-F-E-N-S-E, but they actually learned what those terms meant.  Towards the end of her season, she started to become more interested in what was happening on the court then with her fellow teammates.  My hope is because she is interested to play basketball next year, not because of the cute boys running up and down the court:/

Snow flurries issued in the first day of Spring but the sun closely followed to melt the last effort of our pal Jack Frost away.  With the emergence of Spring comes the ever important Easter season and Spring Break.  Bennett had his first ever field trip and Easter egg hunt at school.  The later of the two was much more enjoyable for our man.  Even though he likes to listen to stories, the library can become tenuous for a bunch of preschoolers.  Running around picking up candy filled eggs is always more exciting.
We, of course colored Easter Eggs and had a visit from a very special bunny.  As you may be able to discern from the basket picture, Hulk was pretty prevalent this Easter season.
Spring forward to a wonderful week of vacation for all.  Who's got two thumbs and was excited about Spring Break?
This Guy
This year we decided to utilize our lake house for our spring break adventures.  We hiked, we fished(well maybe just the big kid), we swam, we played like gamers in the arcades and enjoyed time with friends.
One of our explorations took us to Ha Ha Tonka state park.  It was filled with castle ruins, natural springs, bridges and caves, fresh air, and plenty of room to run.

After all was said and done, it was time for this wonderful week to come to an end.  We packed up our suitcases and wheeled them to the car.  We also needed to wheel someone else.
So, now is the time to keep focused on the remainder of school and embrace the lovely sport of baseball.  Batter up kids!!
