Hot Pink Racer

Having multiple children is such a blessing.  It is amazing to see how much they love each other, entertain each other, and learn from each other.  Of course they have their moments of sibling squabbles, but for the most part, they are always looking to be an important part of each others lives.

Connor has an important distinction that was bestowed upon him by being the first child.  Whether he likes it or not, his sister and brother look up to him immensely.  This can be both a good and bad thing.  When he exemplifies good behavior or skills he is leading by example, but the flip side can have negative consequences for all.

Corynn has the wonderful distinction of being the middle child.  She has an enormous amount of will and determination coupled with a sweet mothering nature.  Her strength of character may seem overpowering at times, but I know this will carry her far in the future, but for the time being, she will use it to the nth degree of annoyance for her brothers.

Bennett has the unique spot of being the youngest and last child in the family.  He has already proven to be quite agile in both motor and verbal skills.  He, no doubt, will build on these while utilizing time and his inquisitive nature while he masters the workings of Mom and Dad.  He will only have his older brother and sister to thank for both their good and bad experiences in life.

Now that we have that all established, let's get to the point of this story:

About a year ago, Connor got to go pick out his very first bike.  After much searching and trial and error, he settled on the awesome red racer.  He began to ride this bike and his skills improved with each outing.  Though timid at first, once he started riding, there was no looking back.
Corynn so wanted to pick her own bike on that same day not understanding, that as much as she wanted to try to do the same things as her brother, her ability to complete this task was not quite in reach.  She did what every younger sister does.  Whine for a little because they didn't get the same thing their brother got, but then she watched.  She watched how he boarded the bike, how he used his feet to try to pedal, all the while, knowing that when her time came, she would be ready.

And ready she was.  Even though she had her own pink and purple tasseled Barbie bike, she wanted to conquer Connor's red racer.  Clad in pink, she put on her princess helmet, stepped on to her brothers racer and she was off.  Never looking back, nor looking ahead at some points, she pedaled as fast as she could.  She never once showed fear nor questioned how to ride the bike, she just did it.  We and her brother's were proud of her achievement, but I think she was the most proud of all, in herself.

So as the story goes, I'm sure Bennett will be next in line to ride this racing machine all the while  knowing, that even though they did it first in their own unique ways, no one is ever truly last in anything when it comes to this family.
The End
