ALOHA, was the greeting that we heard ring throughout our hotel during our stay. Whether we were coming or going, a smile along with this word welcomed us along our way. Even with all we had done at the parks, we still managed to find time to have some fun at the hotel.
The hotel's close proximity to the Magic Kingdom by boat was ideal. During the day we played on the sand and at the pool, while at night we did the hula and watched the electric boat show glide across the water under the fireworks.
The beach was a favorite of the kids. They loved immersing themselves in the sand, especially Bennett.

While on this trip, the kids also celebrated their Nanny's 60th birthday. We slipped a special delivery into her room to surprise her upon her return. We then headed to the Luau to party (bottomless beer and wine didn't hurt).Connor and Bennett acted goofy during dinner, while we all found out how much Corynn loves ribs:)
Then it was time for the show to start in rain or shine. The kids all looked on in awe and even attempted (well, got on the stage) to hula.
The show comprised of a multitude of ceremonial dances. I found this one to be the most interesting for reasons you can see. It also made me laugh when Corynn asked why they were wearing diapers, followed by my wonderful husband asking which one I thought he most resembled.
The best and last part of the show was the fire dancer. Connor loved to watch him throw it in the air, place it in his mouth, and rest the fire on top of his feet. I then needed to make sure he understood this was a "Do Not Try This At Home" activity.
After the show concluded, we stopped for some totem pole pictures and of course puddle splashing after the big storm as well as the arcade.
We managed to have fun no matter where we were, what we were doing, and took all the weather in stride.
It was such a joy and pleasure to share this experience with family.
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. We packed up, headed to the airport (where we squeezed in a pic with Snow White) and said goodbye to Disney.
But in the true spirit of the word Aloha, it's not just goodbye; it will be hello again in the not to distant future.

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip. We are all keeping the tradition alive for the next generation. The look on the children's faces when they first encounter the "Magic" makes a lifetime memory. Great pictures. Mary Dale
