Anchors Away

The moon was out and the stars shone brightly in the sky as we made our trek up to the lake.  When we arrived the kids were so excited to see their Nan and Papa Hutch.

We stared the trip with Belle swimming in the lake and then had bloodymarys, I mean brunch.

The kids swam their hearts out in the pool (or floated) and then a much needed nap awaited all.  Thank goodness we slept because that night we were off to see the fireworks go boom in the sky, as Connor liked to say.

And boom they went as the kids waved their glow stick swords.  Connor kept calling out the colors they made in the sky, while Corynn stumbled around aimlessly trying not to fall asleep.

The next day we got up the courage to try the first family boating adventure.  Corynn screamed like crazy while we tried to put on her life vest (torture device), but soon relaxed and loved the ride.

Connor was nervous at first but warmed up as soon as the fishing poles came out.

The other thing that came out too was the anchor.  The thought was to throw it over to stop and fish for a while, but Ben took it literally and threw it over the boat and lost it deep in the lake.  Needless to say fishing was short lived until another anchor was purchased.

Another day another anchor; Day 2 of boating was an absolute success. Four hour ride with the new anchor still attached, Connor lake swimming and driving the boat and Corynn catching rays.  Over the next couple days they both learned to love the boat and all the fun (regardless of uncomfortable life vests) it can bring.

Of course the lake trip would not be complete without a trip to the beach.  So we embarked with towels and sand toys for the sandy adventure.  We may have only been there a short while (the adults are not big fans of sand) but the kids waded in the lake, built sandcastles(or threw sand) and found seashells.

What a beautiful week it turned out to be, but all fun must come to an end.  We packed up and headed back home.  We can't wait to see what our next adventure will be.
