Summer Memories & School Beginnings

'School's Out For Summer!'  The sounds of laughter and water splashing that resonate through the air as well as the smell of sunblock and summer BBQs.  Our summer brought all of these things plus many memories that we will cherish.

We jumped off on the wrong foot for our summer fun, though.  Connor took a leap of faith, that unfortunately cost him a visit to the ER and a walking boot for 2 weeks.  He was great sport about his time in the cast; the rainy summer didn't hurt either.  He ended up rocking the boot and got it off in time for our crazy July.

We made it to our first family Cardinals game.  Despite the hot sticky weather and a potty training Bennett, the day was a complete success.  Nothing says baseball better than hot dogs, cracker jack, adult beverages and smiling kids.

It was time to embark on our first lake trip of July.  Lake Geneva and Nanny and Papa Hutch here we come!!  We stayed the fourth of July at this beautiful lake and got to spend quality time with their grandparents and Bayley.

We fished:

We played at the beach:
We rode on the boat: Captain Bennett was so worn out driving us around he had to take a snooze while the rest of us swam in the lake.
We even got to celebrate some special events for our boys:
Connor lost his first tooth walking back from the beach.  It was pretty traumatic at first, but when it finally came out he was thrilled, proud and excited for both a cold Popsicle and for a visit from the tooth fairy.  Mom and Dad needed to remind Nanny that while the first visit of the fairy was at the lake, he/she will need to fly to good old MO multiple times for multiple kids.  Good thing we did because I am sure the MO tooth fairy may not be as generous:)
We than celebrated our little firecrackers 3rd birthday.  He loved his superhero ice cream cake and made sure to share numerous pieces with Papa Hutch.
Mom and Dad, or as people referred to us as Kelly and Ben on our adult vacation, got to take a little trip without the trio to Key West.  Even though part was work, we got to soak in the sun and all the tasty food and beverages this little 4 mile island had to offer.

Then back to Branson for fun in the sun with family.  The kids mastered the water slide at the resort, Bennett rode his first roller coaster with his hands high in the air the whole time just like his brave sister, and Connor, well let's just say he took another leap, off a dock this time, that he didn't quite land.

Lesson for the day: Keep your eyes open

Branson 2011 to 2015
We then needed to recreate the image with our now complete family
Prior to the beginning of school we had one last hurrah at our new place at the Lake of the Ozarks.  The kids love having their very own lake house and have become fish swimming and relaxing in the water.
Summer lovin' sure had us a blast, but it was now time for pencils, crayons, backpacks and early morning wake up calls for the bus.  To get ready for the school year, our new kindergartner got to go supply shopping.  It was much more fun for her this year, since she not only got to pick out her school supplies, but her brothers as well.  I guess the excitement of school supply shopping was lost on our old pro 1st grader.
Loaded up with all the requested supplies, we all went to meet the teachers; Davenport for K and Cleland for 1st.  Connor and Corynn were so excited the night before school.  Bennett wasn't so sure what to think.  He ended up being pretty lonely without them until he started school.
The First days of school for all.  They all loved it.  And look Mom, I am 2 for 3 with snapping the school bus photo without actually getting on the bus.  Just one more to go;)
Bennett's big day finally came.  His first official day of preschool.

We hope everyone has a great school year filled with friends, fun and some fundamental learning of course.
